The motorcycle arm is GO.
This is an entire lower arm assembly, and hand, to replace the lower of the hospital issued prosthetic arm.
Shock absorber will be a DnM unit, gas adjustable both ways, and bought for 1/6th the price of the Fox unit.
The bike is an SWM Gran Milano 440, purchased through Heavy Duty Motorsports.
manufacture of the arm and hand will be handled by the team over at Kynaston Engineering
Testing of the quick release hand
Over the next few months I’ll familiarize myself with bot the bike and the arm. The focus being on low speed work and adapting to the RH side clutch.
There’ll also be development work with the switchgear/controls, and learning to couple those controls with clutch+throttle.
Once I have the bike/arm/controls perfected I’ll need to pass the Occupational Therapists testing before moving onto the testing with the Transport Department. The OT I believe will put me through the wringer this time around, so along with the bike mods, arms and practice I’ll be doubling down on improving my physical fitness.
Project deadline is Christmas this year.
